Description
In its last Discovery concert of the season, the Sarasota Orchestra presents a variety of classical music from Latin America and the United States.
Guest conductor Guillermo Figueroa will lead the orchestra in Puerto Rican composer Ernesto Codero’s Ínsula tropical. Concert highlights also include Principal Clarinetist Bharat Chandra’s performance of Copland‘s Clarinet Concerto. Composed in Rio de Janeiro, Copland’s work for clarinet was commissioned by Benny Goodman and was distinctive for its jazzy elements. The concert concludes with Ginastera's Variaciones Concertantes.
