American Roots: Grassical

The DePue Brothers Band—classical violinists who’ve introduced bluegrass, jazz and gypsy sounds into their repertoire in a genre they've dubbed “grassical”—join the Key Chorale Chamber Singers for a concert of bluegrass, old-timey to contemporary. Think the Wailin’ Jennys, Emmylou Harris and Ricky Skaggs, Flatts & Scruggs, The Foggy Mountain Boys and Ralph Stanley.  

Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express

Asolo Rep presents a new adaptation of the ultimate whodunit by two-time Tony Award winner Ken Ludwig. Detective Hercule Poirot sets out to discover who killed an American billionaire aboard a train bound from Istanbul to Paris. Is it the British manservant? The elderly Russian princess? The Swedish missionary?  We’ll never tell. In rotating rep through March 8.

The Righteous Brothers: Bill Medley and Bucky Heard

Lost that lovin’ feeling? Looking for The Time of Your Life? (Okay, we’ll stop here.) The Righteous Brothers bring back Unchained Melody—one of the most popular pop songs of all time—along with a slew of other hits when they visit the Van Wezel. Original Brother Bill Medley brings along Bucky Heard to sing the harmonies originally sung by the late Bobby Hatfield.

The Sarasota Concert Association opens its milestone 75th Great Performers Series season with the fiery Uzbeki classical pianist. He'll perform a program of works by Chopin, Debussy and Mussorgsky that he recently performed at Carnegie Hall.

Young French guitar virtuoso, First Prize winner of the 2018 Guitar Foundation of America’s International Concert Artists Competition, opens GuitarSarasota’s season with works by Bach, Scarlatt, and Granados. At Riverview Performing Arts Center.
