Selby Gardens Art Fair and Sale Weekend

If you’re an admirer of the Florida Highwaymen—African-American landscape painters whose work is currently on display at Selby Gardens—this weekend is your chance to acquire a new piece for your collection. The fair and sale takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the downtown Sarasota campus, and among artists featured are Kandie Ingram (daughter of Mary Ann Carroll, whose paintings are in the exhibit), Isaac Knight and Curtis Arnett.  Majesty of Rock Concert

Pining for the good old days of music from Journey and Styx? Majesty of Rock is in your corner with a live concert resurrecting the two super groups’ songs, at 8 p.m. Saturday at CoolToday Park in North Port. Music Compound: Back to School Bash

Rise Above Performing Arts: Godspell

The Stephen Schwartz-John-Michael Tebelak musical based on the New Testament’s Gospel of Matthew takes to the stage at Rise Above, 3501 S.
