A Month Full of Pride Events

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month and there are a slew of opportunities for people to join together and celebrate in Sarasota.

Pride Month is about to kick off, with the Ringling Bridge lit in rainbow hues and the Pride flag flying at City Hall during the first week of June. Here are some of the best events happening throughout the month. Check back often. As new events are announced, we'll continue to update this list.

Pride Zumba on the Green

This is a Pride edition of UTC Fit's outdoor fitness series. Wear your most colorful clothing on June 7,  from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ppsrq.org

Film: Brokeback Mountain

Burns Court Cinema is joining Pride fun this month with two showings of Brokeback Mountain on Thursday, June 8, at 5 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. This beautiful, heart-wrenching film still resonates with that line: "I wish I knew how to quit you." filmsociety.org

Film: Carol

And not only that film, Burns Court Cinema will also have two showings of Carol on the same day Thursday, June 8, at 5:15 p.m. and 8 p.m. filmsociety.org

Art With Pride

Lexow Gallery is celebrating LGBTQ artists in our community with an evening reception on Friday, June 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. ppsrq.org

Dizney Dance Party

This Friday night dance party at Patrick's 1481 is the pre-party for Saturday's Big Gay Beach Day Party. The fun starts at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 9. flamingals.org

Big Gay Beach Party

Get out to North Lido Beach on Saturday, Jun 10, for this free event. BYO-everything you would typically take for a day at the beach and be sure to look good, as the event listing says, "Grab your squad and your most fabulous beach outfits for Sarasota's infamous Big Gay Beach Party!" Silver Pride

Project Pride SRQ and Senior Friendship Centers present Silver Pride 2023, a free event on Saturday, June 10, from noon to 5 p.m. The event celebrates LGBTQ people ages 50 and up. Live music, vendors, food trucks and more will gather at the Senior Friendship Centers at 1888 Brother Geenen Way, Sarasota. ppsrq.org

St. Andrew UCC Sunday Morning Church Service 

The Sunday morning inclusive worship service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on June 11, will honor the victims of the Pulse massacre that took place on June 12, 2016. sarasotaucc.org

FabAF - Give Back Night With Fabulous Arts Foundation and 99 Bottles

On Sunday, June 11, from 4 to 10:30 p.m. a percentage of all sales at 99 Bottles will be going to the Fabulous Arts Foundation, which is creating safe spaces within our community as well as a platform for the community to be seen and heard.

The Vixens of Oz

This burlesque take on the Wizard of Oz will be at McCurdy's on Sunday, June 11, at 8 p.m. mccurdyscomedy.com

LGBTQ+ Grief Support Group

First Congregational United Church of Christ will host this meeting on June 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. to offer a safe place for people to find strength and hope through the sharing and support of other grieving LGBTQ individuals. This is not a therapy group, but an open discussion with others suffering the loss of someone close to them—whether a spouse, partner, friend or family member. ppsrq.org

UTC Night Market on the Green – Pride Editon

June’s UTC Night Market event will be bigger and brighter than usual in celebration of Pride Month. The night will include live music, LGBTQ and local vendors, rainbow-themed sweets and treats and more. Community organizations will be onsite with giveaways and resources. Splash! Pride Rooftop Pool Party

DJ Johnny Blaze will be filling this poolside party with pride-filled beats at Art Ovation Hotel's Perspectives Rooftop Pool and Bar on Saturday, June 17, from noon to 6 p.m. The day promises specialty equality-inspired cocktails to raise a glass to love and joy. eventbrite.com

Pride Shabbat

Celebrate Pride Month with speaker Jason Campion, president of Project Pride, on June 16 at 6 p.m. at Temple Sinai. ppsrq.org

Rainbow Relay

Seaward CrossFit will be hosting an annual fundraising event in support of the local LGBTQ+ community. The event will take place at their new location in the Rosemary Art & Design District. All profits and donations raised from this event will be donated to ALSO Youth. For sign up info: rosemarydistrict.org.
