Kabuki Modern

Explore the centuries-old Japanese theater art of Kabuki with this exhibit at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art’s Asian Art Center. About 20 objects, including many woodblock print actor portraits, called yakusha-e, will be on view, dating from 1868 to the 1950s. ringling.org

Sarasota Open Air Fine Art Show

Phillippi Estate Park (5500 S. Tamiami Trail) is the setting for this art show welcoming up to 80 professional artists working in all media, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Bay Music Live!

Popular area music group Jah Movement, known for its reggae sound mixed with R&B, soul and funk,  headlines this outdoor concert at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, which kicks off at 4 p.m. with music starting at 4:30 p.m. Lawn spaces and tables will be arranged for social distancing, and food and beverage will be available for purchase. Venice Theatre: Patsy Cline Live

Singer-actress Alana Opie, who has appeared as country singer Cline before in Always, Patsy Cline, returns to VT’s Mainstage Jervey Theatre to offer some of Cline’s hits, accompanied by a small live band. Visions of the Black Experience Film Series

The lineup for this virtual series includes a Chadwick Boseman retrospective and locally made films Through the Tunnel, Into the Storm, Sincerely, The Black Kids, and 9/11 Kids. Expect documentaries, narratives and shorts, along with live Q&As with filmmakers and panel discussions. It's a collaboration involving the Sarasota Film Festival and numerous local organizations, and it’s free with registration required at visionsoftheblackexperience.com.
