Pop's Sunset Grill is one of the restaurants participating in the first of a new series of progressive dinners organized by the Sarasota-Manatee Originals.

As part of this year's Forks & Corks Food and Wine Festival, the Sarasota-Manatee Originals, which represents more than 60 locally owned, independent restaurants, organized a roving dinner party in downtown Sarasota that spotlighted multiple restaurants who offered special dishes and wine pairings.

That event quickly sold out. If you missed it, now's your chance to experience something similar: The Originals this week announced The Blend, a series of progressive dinners in various locales that will take place throughout the summer and fall.

First up: Venice and Nokomis. From 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, participants will be shuttled by trolley between Café Venice Restaurant & Bar, Pop’s Sunset Grill, Paradise Grill and Fins at Sharky’s. At each stop, guests will enjoy a special dish and wine pairing, with a guided tasting led by a knowledgeable staffer from Casey Key Wine Collector.

Future destinations include Bradenton (Tuesday, July 27), Siesta Key (Tuesday, Aug. 31), Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island (Tuesday, Sept. 28), downtown Sarasota (Tuesday, Oct. 12) and University Town Center and Lakewood Ranch (Tuesday, Nov. 16). Tickets are $125 per person, plus ticketing fees. The price includes all food and drinks, any parking fees, the trolley ride and gratuities for staff at the restaurants.
