Ringling Museum: Meander through the art at this museum. It has everything from Renaissance and Baroque art to contemporary artists. Aside from the regular museum hours, from 8-11 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, Ringling hosts a few local artists and a band in their main courtyard. There’s always an exhibit open and it changes each time. Or, if you are on a budget, the museum of art is free every Monday, thanks to John Ringling’s hope that the entire public could have access to beautiful art.

Smuggler’s Cove Adventure Golf: Golfing is a perfect first date activity because it leaves lots of room for fun and conversation starters. Smuggler’s Cove is even more exciting than regular mini-golf because it has live baby alligators that you can feed. If you are on a double or group date, this is a superb place for laughter and conversation.

Burns Court Cinema: This is the classic dinner-and-a-movie first date, but with a twist. This theater has been a staple of Sarasota culture for about 25 years. It features independent, foreign language and art films. They host film events throughout the year. Go watch an interesting film neither of you have ever seen, then take a walk to a nearby downtown eatery to discuss it. 

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens: You can’t help but feel romantic in these gardens. Walking in, you are surrounded by orchids in a crowded greenhouse. Visiting each section of plants is like going from one world to another. Take a break to sit on a bench and observe the exquisiteness of nature. It would be difficult not to get a heart-worthy Instagram picture.
