Florida Studio Theatre’s summer mainstage season comes to an end with this comedy about a fast-talking Wall Street shark who wants to take over a small-town business. When it won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Play in 1989, the L.A. Times called it, “very funny, and very human.” Through Aug. 19 in FST’s Gompertz Theatre.

Lucky us: the nationally renowned artists chosen for residencies at the Hermitage Artist Retreat on Manasota Key each must present a free community program. This time, it’s Ralph Farris of the contemporary music quartet ETHEL teaming up with composer and musician Robert Mirabal to present “Brothers in Song," a Native-American-themed theatrical piece that will soon move into workshop.

 Very Merry Jerry Day at Fogartyville

Grab your tie-dye and head to Fogartyville for WSLR’s annual celebration of The Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia.  Musicians honoring the Dead this year are the Stumble Creek, the Al Fuller Band  and Ship of Fools, and Chef Richard’s Kumquat Kitchen will be on hand serving up refreshments.
