The Sarasota City Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved amendments to a contract to begin renovations to Sarasota Municipal Auditorium. The project includes rehabilitating 18 windows to their original 1940s Art Deco designs, reconstructing exterior doors and stairs, waterproofing, sealing and performing other repairs and upgrades. The total project cost is almost $903,000, $500,000 of which will be paid with a state historic preservation grant awarded to the city in 2016. Sarasota's DM Constructors, LLC will perform the work.
