Floridians' consumer confidence dropped during the month of December, according to the latest survey results released by the University of Florida’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research. The rating dropped by 1.4 points, from 97.3 in November to 95.9 in December. Among the five components that make up the index, one increased and four decreased. Opinions as to whether now is a good time to buy a big-ticket household item rose, while perceptions of one’s personal financial situation now compared with a year ago dropped. Expectations of one's personal finances a year from now declined, as did anticipated U.S. economic conditions over the upcoming year and expectations of U.S. economic conditions over the next five years. The study reflects the responses of 427 individuals who were reached on cell phones, representing a demographic cross section of Florida.
