Power Still Out for One-Third of Those in Sarasota and Manatee Counties
Florida Power & Light expects to have power restored 'to essentially all customers' on the Gulf Coast by Friday, Sept. 22.
More than 142,000 homes and businesses in Sarasota and Manatee counties still lacked power due to Hurricane Irma as of Wednesday morning. That number represents 30 percent of Florida Power & Light accounts in Manatee County and 33 percent in Sarasota County. The company expects to have power restored "to essentially all customers" on the Gulf Coast by Friday, Sept. 22, and urges residents to continue to avoid downed power lines and standing water.
