In partnership with the Sarasota Young Professionals Group, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County is offering a free event focused on financial literacy for young professionals. Paul Cantor, chief operation officer at Allegiant Private Advisors, and Carl Watkins, wealth advisor, will lead a discussion on how to budget, how to save, basic investment elements, including interest rate and return compounding, broad asset classes, the importance of asset allocation and the understanding of risk and risk preferences. The workshop takes place 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, 2635 Fruitville Road, Sarasota. Register online.
