The City of Sarasota is organizing a community presentation on plans for downtown's newly rechristened Paul N. Thorpe Jr. Park, as well as the streetscape along Lemon Avenue between Main Street and Pineapple Avenue. The current plan calls for maintaining the city's Mermaid Fountain and artwork while adding green space and trees to the surrounding park. New curbs and sidewalks will also be installed along Lemon Avenue. The presentation begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at City Hall, 1565 First St., Sarasota. You can view the plan online.
