Passover, the Jewish holiday that commemorates the exodus from Egypt that Moses led through the desert, begins Monday evening, April 10 with the traditional holiday feast, the Seder. For the following seven days, observant Jews banish foods with leavening and fermenting agents from their refrigerators and pantries. That doesn’t mean you have to subsist on matzo alone. Here are some area restaurants and grocers offering kosher-style Passover dishes.

Harry’s Continental Kitchens on Longboat Key is offering an entire Seder meal—from matzo ball soup to macaroons—for take-out on the first night of Passover (call in advance to order), plus additional pick-up items like chopped chicken livers and noodle kugel. 

Nellie’s Deli will have an array of Passover foods in its take-out dinner case starting Saturday, like carrot tzimmes, charoses, potato kugel, gefilte fish and matzo ball soup, plus kosher for Passover cakes like mocha rolls and jelly rolls. It will even offer a complete traditional Seder plate.

Whole Foods is offering a beef brisket dinner for six with sides like broccolini and roasted fingerling potatoes through its catering department. A la carte, it also has vegetarian chopped liver (and the real deal), carrot tzimmes, matzo stuffing with spinach and mushrooms and, for dessert, meringues and apricot rolls. 

Morton’s Gourmet Market has a full menu of Passover dishes, from braised lamb shanks to whitefish spread, matzo kugel and a walnut date torte, as well as a traditional Seder plate. Forty-eight hours’ notice is required before pick-up.
