Sarasota Ballet: De Valois, Balanchine & Robbins

Jerome Robbins’ delightful Fancy Free, the 1944 ballet about a trio of sailors on the town in New York City (in fact, it was the inspiration for the hit Broadway musical, On the Town), closes the Sarasota Ballet season this weekend on a jaunty note. Also on the program, two pieces by George Balanchine and Dame Ninette de Valois’ Checkmate. Four performances Friday-Sunday at the Opera House.
