The Sarasota County Commission on Wednesday unanimously approved a request to rezone an almost-18-acre property at the corner of Honore Avenue and DeSoto Road to make way for a new 233-unit apartment complex. The development, DeSoto Road Apartments, will range in height from two stories up to 70 feet, according to a report drafted by county staff: "In addition, the proposed development is clustered in the northern half of the parcel with an approximately 4.7 acre wetland, wetland buffer, mesic hammock and stormwater lake located in the southern half of the parcel."
