Forum Focuses on Phillippi Creek Fish Population and Stormwater Management

The next Sarasota Bay Fisheries Forum takes place 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14.

The next Sarasota Bay Fisheries Forum will feature a discussion of fish communities and habitat in Upper Phillippi Creek and nearby stormwater canals. The free forum, made up of anglers, scientists and others seeking to proactively address fisheries management and other Sarasota Bay issues, takes place 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, 1600 Ken Thompson Parkway, Sarasota. Jim Locascio, manager of Mote's Fisheries Habitat Ecology and Acoustics Research Program, will lead the discussion, which will also touch on habitat enhancement and possible restoration of portions of the creek used for stormwater management.
