Early voting begins Saturday, Nov. 25, in the Democratic state House primary race between Margaret Good and Ruta Jouniari, and continues 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily through Saturday, Dec. 2. Early voting takes place at the downtown Supervisor of Elections office, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota; the North Sarasota Library, 2801 Newtown Blvd., Sarasota; and the Westfield Sarasota Square mall, 8201 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
The primary concludes on election day, Tuesday, Dec. 5. The winner of the race will then face Republican James Buchanan and Libertarian Alison Foxall during the general election, which ends Feb. 13. The special election was called because of the resignation of former state Rep. Alex Miller, R-Sarasota, who quit after serving less than a year in office. The special election is expected to cost taxpayers $300,000, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
