The City of Sarasota on Monday released the final draft of its Climate Adaptation Plan, created to identify infrastructure that is threatened by rising sea levels, extreme heat and precipitation and increasingly dangerous storms. The report was written by city staff and the consulting firm HDR, and examines vulnerable transportation, stormwater, water supply and wastewater facilities, public lands and buildings. The report predicts that the local sea level will rise by between 6.4 inches and 2.4 feet by 2050 and that Sarasota will see up to 60 more days above 95 degrees Fahrenheit each year by 2050. The city is requesting public feedback either online or via email by Monday, Nov. 27.
