The Sarasota City Commission voted unanimously on Monday to approve an agreement to move forward with the construction of a new parking garage on St. Armands Circle. Construction on the 500-space structure is set to begin next spring, with completion expected before the end of 2018. The garage will sit to the north of the roundabout, behind the buildings that contain ShoreCafe L’Europe and Columbia. The total project cost, which includes design and construction of the garage, as well as associated work, such as burying power lines, is just under $15.5 million. Watch a video rendering of the project here.
