The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County announced winners of its 2016 EDC Awards during a Friday luncheon. The Clyde Nixon Business Leadership Award went to Gene Matthews, a former Sarasota County commissioner and Sarasota County School Board member who founded two businesses. The winner of the Ringling College Innovation by Creative Design Award was Penta5 LLC for its product, MosquitoPaQ, a non-toxic and environmentally friendly approach to protecting against mosquito bites.
