iconcept jr

Art Center Sarasota’s annual iconcept runway fashion shows, where artists and fashionistas use unconventional materials to create wild and crazy one-of-a-kind fashions, are always lots of fun. This time out, the kids age 8-18 grab the scissors and glue guns to bring us iconcept jr., a fashion show and buffet lunch, with proceeds benefiting Art Center’s youth scholarship and educational outreach programs. Make it work! Tickets at artsarasota.org/iconceptjr.

Superheroes on Parade

More than 93,000 votes poured in for Southeastern Guide Dogs’ Superheroes on Parade contest—52 dog statues cleverly costumed by talented area artists and placed all over town for the past several months—and Saturday night the organization unveils the “People’s Choice Award” winners at a fun-filled party at the Sarasota Opera House. (At $1 a vote, Southeastern Guide Dogs raised more than $93,000 to fund its seeing eye dog training programs. You can see all the dogs in a special section in Sarasota Magazine's September issue.) Party tickets, $150, can be purchased at superheroesonparade.dog/events.
