According to data released by the housing research firm Metrostudy, 1,492 single-family home units were started in the Sarasota and Bradenton area during the second quarter of 2016, an increase of 17.6 percent compared to the year before. The new number is the best quarterly number since the third quarter of 2006, according to Metrostudy regional director Tony Polito.
