More than 520,000 visitors to the Sarasota Farmers Market contributed $56 million to the local economy over the past year, according to data released Monday by the market's executive director, Phil Pagano. The market surveyed 883 shoppers and found that on average they spent $20.33 at the market and another $37.26 while downtown. The market includes 85 vendors.
