The Sarasota Architectural Foundation on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 11 a.m. to noon hosts a docent-led tour of the iconic 1953 Umbrella House in Lido Shores, which many consider the finest example of famed architect Paul Rudolph’s work in the heyday of the Sarasota School of Architecture. The original wooden shade “umbrella,” which fell victim to a windstorm several decades ago, was replaced last year with an aluminum version. Greg Wall, the architect responsible for the restoration, earned a Florida Trust for Historic Preservation award this year for his work on the project. A few house tour tickets remain; they can be purchased at sarasotaarchitecturalfoundation.org
