Surgeons at the eye care practice Center for Sight recently performed life-changing cataract surgeries for 100 patients as part of its Mission Cataract program. The surgeries took place July 13 and 20 at the practice’s surgery facility in Sarasota. To qualify for Mission Cataract 2016, patients had to have poor vision due to cataracts that was uncorrectable with glasses; have no Medicare, Medicaid or third-party insurance coverage; and have no other means to pay for cataract surgery.

Lightspeed Voice recently donated equipment and services to the Loveland Center, a nonprofit that provides educational programs and vocational training for individuals with developmental disabilities. Lightspeed Voice, a telephone service provider, delivered state-of-the-art IP phone services and support to the center earlier this month. The contribution represents an estimated $57,000 in operating expense savings for Loveland Center over the next 36 months.

The law firm Adams and Reese recently contributed to Goodwill Manasota's Job Connection program to support the organization's mission of “changing lives through the power of work.” The donation will enable one client of Goodwill’s Job Connection program, which provides free career services, to attend General Education Development classes for two semesters.

The business law firm Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is now accepting applications for the Shumaker Diversity Scholarship, a $7,500 scholarship to two first- or second-year law students who are enrolled at an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
