This week: a sweet, sweet homage to a lovely Palmetto setting.

This week: The Sunset on the River at Riverhouse Reef and Grill in Palmetto

The drink: Vodka, coconut rum, peach and melon liqueurs, pineapple, orange and cranberry juices. "Is there enough stuff in it?" asked my cocktail companion. "Tastes like...college," was my response, recalling a drinking career that started with Midori (or amaretto) sours. Visually, it's a colorful homage to a lovely setting. Flavor-wise, it's...sweet.

The bar: A former boathouse, the spacious Riverhouse restaurant has a relaxed but stylish vibe that still makes its waterfront setting the star. The long L bar and dining rooms sit opposite 180-degree views of the Manatee River.

Other notable potables: Two-dozen or so fruity options for traditional and original margaritas, martinis, and mixed and frozen beverages featuring lots of flavored liquors and schnapps.
