Celebrity stylist Nick Arrojo checks out the new Blow la la Blow Dry Bar.

Imagine this: What if there was a local blow-dry salon you could pop into where stylists could work their magical hair-drying powers on you? Sound like a dream? Well, you’re in luck: Blow la la Dry Bar has got you covered.

Blow la la is the first blow dry bar in the Sarasota area that offers the “wash, blow and go” concept without a full service salon. It’s a trend that’s swept the nation—and now Sarasota’s in the loop, too.

Whether you’re planning on going out with the girls, attending an event or simply running errands, at Blow la la you can have your hair washed, blown dry and styled. Treatments start at $10, with most blowouts running $40.

We got a preview of Blow la la on Monday night, and we’re impressed: the salon’s white chairs, cabinets and bar area and the vibrant green lights and walls create a sophisticated, chic environment.

Blow la la’s founder/owner, Kimberly O’Connor says this type of salon has been a long time coming to the Sarasota area. She’d visited blow dry bars in New York and Boston, and knew Sarasota needed something like it.

“I believe the women of Sarasota are looking for a place—whether it’s last minute or you make an appointment—to have this affordable luxury experience,” O’Connor says.

And she explained that you’re not cheating on your hairdresser when you have your hair done at Blow la la.

“Say a party comes up last minute and you want to get your hair done,” O’Connor says. “Ninety-nine percent of the time, your hairdresser is booked up and you can’t get an appointment in time. Getting a blowout is super convenient and a great alternative.”

Before settling on what products her salon would use, O’Connor researched several and came across celebrity stylist Nick Arrojo’s new line, ARROJO. She flew to New York City to meet and talk with Arrojo about carrying his products, and together they decided ARROJO would be perfect for Blow la la.

Arrojo, known for his hair styling on TLC’s popular What Not to Wear (now off the air), and for his successful New York-based salons and cosmetology school, came to America in 1994 from England with $1,500 in his pocket, he said.

“Thirty four years into hairdressing, and six years of having my own product line, I’m absolutely thrilled to be at Blow la la and see such elegance, coolness and meet such nice people with positive energy,” Arrojo says. “What we have here is an entrepreneurial spirit and a love in which this space and its team has been developed.”
