Sarasota County is helping business leaders learn how to save money and resources at work by adopting sustainability practices with a series of free "Green Your Business" classes. Through September, the county will show businesses and nonprofits how to cut energy use, water consumption and waste production. Cooling, heating, lighting and other building services account for about 40 percent of the total energy use in the United States each year, or roughly twice the global rate. Eighty-three percent of Sarasota County commuters drive to work alone, with an average drive time of 22 minutes each way. Click here for a list of classes.
