Seven Great Finds from Designer Gail Carlson

Previewed in Milan 2016, we’re crushing on Enzo Berti’s Kora bathtub and Tangram table. The Kora is an elegant ellipsoidal marble bathtub that gives elegance to the bathroom, evoking ancient Tibetan bells. Kora is cut from a single solid block and rests on an iron tripod, suspending it from the floor and giving it stability.
The Tangram table makes a great visual impact, made by interlocking elements of marble and wooden blocks of varying thickness and geometries.
The days of small pendant lights over kitchen islands are over. Whether single, double or cluster lights, we’re crushing on larger-scale pendants that make a bold statement.
We love finding pieces that do double duty. This sliding drinks tray over a coastal style cocktail ottoman is really the answer to both needs—the need to prop your feet but also to have a place to set a drink.
Even in Florida, we love the romance of fireplaces. Modern linear fireplaces offer endless design possibilities. We’re designing them in combination with beautiful stone, concrete or wood, and using them indoors as focal walls as well as outdoors as fire tables.
We’re using more locally sourced timbers and finishing techniques that are less harmful to the environment. These strategies capitalize on the inherent durability and pest-resistant characteristics of cypress wood, found in the South, and accomplish beautiful finishes with unique visual depth.
We have a “forever crush” on layers of alabaster, bone and creamy neutrals set against the contrast of charcoal black with comfortable seating and soft, tactile fabrics. We’re also loving the added softness of full walls of breezy, sheer drapery filling a room with filtered light. What’s not to love here?
