The Manatee County Tourist Development Council voted Monday to approve a $250,000 sponsorship for the Manatee Performing Art Center and also a $7,500 sponsorship for a conference for millennials that will be held April 1-3. The conference will focus on topics important to local millennials, such as housing, networking, financial stability, entrepreneurship and how to take ownership in one’s community. The Manatee Millennial Movement (known as M3) has spent the last year informing local young professionals and college students about civic engagement opportunities, focusing on affordable housing, leadership roles and overcoming apathy. The conference is a followup to last year’s #iSeeManatee event, which brought out hundreds of people to talk about what they would like to see Manatee County look like in the future.
