This Week's Good Deeds
Forty Carrots Family Center, a local nonprofit dedicated to strengthening families, will expand its Child & Family Therapy services with the help of a three-year $196,200 grant from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation. The money will support the growing program, including the addition of a new clinical supervisor to ensure that families have access to the best quality of care. Forty Carrots' Child & Family Therapy services grew 61 percent in the last year.
The Patterson Foundation announced this week that it contributed almost $7.7 million in matching donations and prizes to the 2016 Giving Challenge, more than half of the event’s nearly $13.4 million grand total, which was recently disbursed to nonprofits throughout Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties.
The Gulf Coast Builders Xchange, a nonprofit trade organization, recently held its holiday social and collected over 90 gifts from members to benefit children at the Sarasota YMCA Safe Children Coalition.
Gettel Automotive Group will present a check for $5,000 to the Manatee County Food Bank. The funds were donated by associates and vendors and matched by the company, which also collected $10,500 for Toys for Tots, an amount donated by employees that will be matched by the company for a total of $21,000.
The next Art, Rhymes & Beer event will benefit Toys for Tots through a silent art auction, a raffle and toy donations. The party takes place 6 p.m.-midnight Saturday, Dec. 17, at Big Top Brewing Company, 6111 Porter Way, Sarasota.
