The unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities dropped from 10.8 to 8.7 percent nationally and from 16.2 to 11.7 percent in Sarasota County in the past year, while the rate rose in Manatee County from 9.4 to 11.3 percent. That's according to new statistics distributed this week by Goodwill Manasota, which announced the numbers as an update to last year's "State of Employment" report that examined job opportunities for individuals with disabilities, as well as veterans. For veterans, the unemployment rate remained static at 4.3 percent nationally, while in Florida the rate increased from 5.6 to 6.1 percent.
