Microsoft earlier this month highlighted DutchCrafters, a Sarasota-based online retailer for handmade Amish furniture, for its use of Recommendations API, Microsoft's product recommendation software. The software is part of Microsoft Cognitive Services, "which provides personalized product recommendations in the form of Frequently Bought Together recommendations, item-to-item recommendations ('Customers who liked this product also liked these other products'), and personalized user recommendations," according to Microsoft. "Since implementing the Recommendations API, DutchCrafters has boosted its conversion rate to 0.6 percent for visitors who use the recommendation results—a three-times improvement."
