A 9,345-square-foot, four-bedroom house located at 1456 Point Crisp, Siesta Key, has sold together with an adjacent lot for $5,675,000. The transaction was the fourth highest sale of 2013 in Sarasota County. Michael Holderness Jr. of Sarabay Real Estate represented the buyer, and Joel Schemmel and Peg Davant of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty managed the listing.
Schemmel and his team closed more than $11 million in sales in November and December, including three Siesta Key properties. The group earned Premier Sotheby’s top-producing team award for five consecutive years (2008-2012).
Canada-based Mattamy Homes has purchased approximately 230 acres in Lakewood Ranch from Schroeder-Manatee Ranch Inc. for $17.2 million. Mattamy plans to build 675 homes, a combination of single-family and townhouse, in the new community. The company expects to break ground on roads and servicing this summer and open the community for sale in spring 2015, according to a company press release.
Mattamy Homes has built more than 60,000 homes throughout North America and oversees every aspect of community planning, including the land purchase, street planning, home design, parks and amenities. The company recently opened a new Tampa division, and this is its first development in the Sarasota area.
