Venice Summer Cabaret Festival

July 15-Aug. 8

Speaking of shows, Venice Theatre is back with its lineup of small-scale summer shows in its Pinkerton Theatre, albeit they are staged during a shorter than usual timespan. Kicking things off July 15 and 16 will be The Sinatra Songbook, featuring John Lariviere delivering hits from Ol’ Blue Eyes. He’s followed by Dorian & The Furniture’s Tabled, July 17 and 18, a piece “built from the remains of 2019 and 2020’s unplayed set lists,” usually in the folk-rock genre. For the complete schedule, visit venicetheatre.org.

Five Florida public school arts teachers showcase and discuss the work developed during their residency at the Hermitage Artist Retreat in another free, family-friendly event ($5 for adults), set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Great Lawn at the retreat. Hands-on activities involving ceramics, selfies and more are part of the day. To register, go to hermitageartistretreat.org.

Docent-guided tours also available at 11 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month, for $10 per person. Discover more at artsadvocates.org.
