Suncoast Boat Show

April 23-25

Take a stroll around downtown’s bayfront at Marina Jack and browse hundreds of boats, from cruisers to runabouts to yachts, at this annual show. Also on tap: free kids’ fishing clinics, music, food and drink. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday; tickets $16 with kids 15 and under free. Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe: Pipeline

April 24-30

WBTT is filming this play by Dominique Morrisseau, about a Black teacher struggling to keep her son from entering the “school-to-prison pipeline,” and will present outdoor screenings before switching to streaming dates, May 1-23. For tickets, call (941) 366-1505 or go to westcoastblacktheatre.org.

The Sarasota Ballet: Digital Program 6

April 23-27

Continuing its season of streaming performances, the company presents Sir Frederick Ashton’s Valses nobles et sentimentales, along with his The Walk to the Paradise Garden and Façade; to watch, reserve your ticket at sarasotaballet.org.

Forks & Corks 2021

April 26-May 2

This annual salute to the best in food and wine in our area has shifted gears to an online auction event due to Covid, but while you can't mingle in person you still have the chance to bid for items including rare wines, travel, special dining and party experiences and more. “From Creation to Production: Where It All Begins”

April 23

Broadway producer (Hadestown, The Inheritance) and part-time Sarasotan Tom Kirdahy will talk about the process of bringing a show to the stage when he guests at the next Hermitage Artist Retreat program, beginning at 6 p.m. April 23 live on the Hermitage beach; you can also watch virtually. DeSoto Grand Parade

April 24

More than 80 years old, the DeSoto Heritage Festival Grand Parade had to be canceled last year due to Covid; it returns at 7 p.m. Saturday, kicking off at Manatee High School and following its traditional route down Ninth Avenue West to 39th Street West and Manatee Avenue to Ninth Street West. Themed “A Salute to Our Healthcare Heroes,” the parade will feature lots of floats, a group of veterans, and local celebs. More info at desotohq.com.

Choral Artists of Sarasota: Come Fly with Me

April 25

Got a yen to travel after months stuck at home? You can satisfy that longing, at least a bit, with this live performance featuring songs about places far away, from “I Love Paris” to “Fly Me to the Moon” and more. Manatee Players: I Do! I Do!

April 22-May 9

This popular two-hander musical by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, centering on a couple from their wedding day for decades after, turns up at the Manatee Performing Arts Center.
