Sarasota's Dr. Jack Wazen last month accepted the international Bone Conduction Hearing "Osseo" Award for his rehabilitation of patients diagnosed with single-sided deafness through the use of bone-anchored hearing devices. The award was originally created in honor of Anders Tjellström, a researcher and pioneer in the use of bone-anchored hearing aids. Wazen accepted the award at the 6th International Congress on Bone Conduction Hearing and Related Technologies in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, in May. Wazen is a partner at the Silverstein Institute, an otolaryngology practice with four divisions: the Florida Ear and Sinus Center, the Florida Voice and Swallowing Center, Medical Hearing Systems and the Ear Research Foundation.
