6th Annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic Kicks Off This Weekend

The 6th annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition kicks off at Siesta Key Beach this Friday, Nov. 13.

By Savannah Handerson November 11, 2015

This year, November 13-17, the 6th annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition returns to Siesta Key. The beach, known for its marble-like sand, is a favorite among professional sand sculptors.

This year, guests can expect an amateur competition along with the traditional sculpting competition. There will also be a “Quick Sand” competition, where two professionals will go head-to-head in a timed display of skill.  There will be live music by bands like Jim Morris and the Big Bamboo Band and plenty of party tents. Daily admission is $6 per person (kids under 4 are free). Tickets can be purchased online at http://siestakeycrystalclassic.com/; there is free parking at Siesta Beach all day, but be warned--the lots fill up early. (If you want to avoid driving altogether, Sarasota County Area Transit offers transportation to South Siesta Key and Siesta Village on Routes 10 and 11 from two different locations.)

Here's last year's winner--we can't wait to see what the sand sculptors cook up this year.
