Leaf Glory

Transitional in styling (which means it will go with just about anything), this luxurious whitewashed table seats six without the leaf and up to 10 with the extender. The carved leaf motif on the cabriole legs is repeated on the backs of the matching chairs for a graceful flourish. The table is 46 inches wide, 78 inches long and 39 inches high. $7,444. Each chair (your choice of seat upholstery) is $1,725. At The Palmer House Collection, 5277 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. 358-9939.

Original Zen

Such ultra-modern Italian styling makes you want to serve sushi or some other glamorous minimalist fare on clear Zen-like plates. The 60-inch round custom sandblasted glass tabletop features a 12-inch circle of clear glass in the center and it sells for $825. It perches atop a chrome base for a sleek sculptural attitude. $659. Each leather, wood and chrome chair is $339 and is available in a variety of bold colors. From Home Resource, 500 Southgate Plaza, Sarasota. 362-7788.

Maybe in your travels last summer you saw a table at Versailles, MoMA or the Winterthur Museum that you'd like to reinterpret for your dining room? No problem. Master cabinetmaker Joe Stanley can even create an original designed for your entertaining style. This contemporary beauty is 40 inches wide and 84 inches long. The table center is cherry lattice work, and the legs and banding are done in anodized black oak. $4,500. See Joe's custom designs (he does lots more than tables) at 6103 28th St. E., Bradenton or phone him at 739-5536.
