Sarasota Magazine, A CurtCo Media Publication Wins 2006 SPJ Sunshine State Award

SARASOTA, FL (May 19, 2006) Sarasota Magazine, a Gulfshore/CurtCo Media Publication, announces winning the 2006 SPJ Sunshine State Award.

The Society of Professional Journalists recently held their twelfth annual awards competition, which drew over 1200 entries and included newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations, trade publications, and internet news operations.  Sarasota won third place in Criticism for a piece written by Richard Storm on architecture, a contributing editor.  Judges Diana Henriques of the New York Times and Terry Neal of the Washington Post commented, “Writing about buildings is probably the hardest kind of criticism to make interesting.  Storm does so.”

Gulfshore Life, also a CurtCo Media Publication and Sarasota Magazine’s sister publication won first and second place in the category of Feature Reporting – Small Publications.
