Sarasota Concert Band's "Honoring Heroes" Memorial Day Concert"

Sarasota Concert Band announces the annual Memorial Day outdoor concert, musical tribute to the men and women who have given their lives for our country, 3 p.m. on May 28 at Phillippi Estate Park. $5 per person. The fun, patriotic performance will include "Shenandoah," "Victory at Sea," "Light Calvary" and an audience sing-a-long. Bring lawn chairs and hats; food and drink vendors will be on site.

Allegro Music Academy presents world-class violinist Ilya Kaler, the only person to win gold medals at all three of the world's prestigious violin competitions, 7 p.m. on December 20 at the Players Theater, 838 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. Also appearing are Dr. Olga Dubossarskaya Kaler, winner of the Rodolfo Lipizer International Competition and rising star Cellist Daniel Kaler.
