THE CHARITY REGISTER 2008-2009
An introduction to 218 Sarasota causes.

Welcome to our annual compilation of local nonprofits that give to the needy, heal the sick, and further the intellectual, cultural and humanitarian pursuits of all of us.

In addition to holding 501(c)3 nonprofit certification, each of these organizations is locally headquartered and serves Sarasota directly. Most of these charities hold public fund-raising events, and nearly all of them depend on volunteers. Here you’ll find numerous ways you can contribute to their missions.

Read about even more local organizations on our Web site, www.sarasotamagazine.com.

Please bring omissions to our attention so that we may add them to our database. For information, comments or suggestions, contact Hannah Wallace at Sarasota Magazine, 330S. Pineapple Ave., Suite 205, Sarasota, 34236. Or e-mail hannahw@sarasotamagazine.com.

It would be nice if the list had a search feature (even better if that feature had a year field to access the prior registers at the same time). Also, instead of numbered pages at the bottom, perhaps you could replace those with letters, such as A-1, A-2, W-1, etc.

I find it completely inapproriate for Ms. Hannah Wallace to be working on the charity register. As you can see in an excerpt from her blog spot below, she truly lacks respect and compassion for children with special needs. The only thing "Creepy" is how immature she truly is. Wednesday, May 14, 2008 Patchwork by Hannah Wallace First off, I’d like to give a shout out to American Idol for justifying so thoroughly why I do not watch it ever. Tuesday night, I DVRed it, fast-forwarded past that creepy little autistic kid, watched and enjoyed Syesha’s performance, and then wondered what kind of crack Paula is sharing with the other judges.
