Hot Pursuits
Sports and recreation for athletes and fans.
In honor of Sarasota’s temperate climate, we echo the command of mothers everywhere: The weather’s beautiful; go outside and play! After all, there’s no end to sporting opportunities in the area—on land (world-class tennis facilities and more than 900 holes of golf) and sea (fishing, kayaking, windsurfing). Grab your clubs, racquet and rod and get going.

Spectators also have lots to lay their eyes on. Spring training baseball is a big draw, with the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates playing home games in Sarasota and Bradenton, respectively. Or you can sit back and watch some four-legged athletes at the Sarasota Polo Club and the Sarasota Kennel Club.

For more pro games, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Buccaneers and Lightning are just an hour’s drive north.
