Galleria Silecchia. Continuing on view at the Palm Avenue gallery through July 5 are works by mixed media painter Cary Henrie. Opening July 6 to run through Aug. 2: an exhibition of abstract paintings and sculpture in aluminum by Paul Tamanian, followed by a show highlighting the blown glass forms of Hiroshi Yamano, Aug. 3 through Sept. 6. And then comes a show with Colombian oil painter Homero Aguilar, Sept. 7 through Oct. 4. 365-7414.


Tampa Museum of Art.
Eberhard Havekost 1999-2006: Paintings from the Rubell Family Collection and Memorials of Identity: New Media from the Rubell Family Collection remain on view through July 8. You can also see works by “outsider” artist Purvis Young at TMA through July 22. Opening July 21 to run through Sept. 23 is Color: Ten African-American Artists, while the National Sculpture Society annual award exhibition opens the same date but runs through Sept. 30. And The Big Picture: 2006 Photographer Laureate Steven Gregory features digital images capturing the city of Tampa, July 28 through Oct. 7. (813) 274-8130.


Museum of Fine Arts.
On the Road: Photographs Across America, and Florida Collects Folk Art continue here through July 8, as does an exhibition of 20th-century North Carolina pottery. (727) 896-2667.


State of the Arts Gallery.
The Writing on the Wall, artists’ statements and commentary in the form of art and flags, continues here throughout the month. 955-2787.


Art Center Sarasota.
Continuing here through Aug. 4, an open exhibition in both the Main and Member Galleries, and an Easter Seals juried show in the Front Gallery. 365-2032.


Venice Art Center.
A quilt exhibition continues here through Aug. 10. 485-7136.


Ringling Museum of Art.
On view in the new Ulla R. and Arthur F. Searing Wing through Aug. 12: In Our Time: The World as Seen by Magnum Photographers. Landscapes from the Age of Impressionism, featuring some 40 paintings from the Brooklyn Museum of Art, continues here through Sept. 16. Opening Sept. 30 to run through Jan. 4 is Francisco Goya: Los Caprichos, a series of etchings by the great Spanish artist dealing with such themes as the Spanish Inquisition, witchcraft and the corruption of the Catholic church of the time. And continuing in one of the museum’s “pocket exhibitions” through July 29 is Canaletto Paired: 18th-Century Venetian View Painting. 359-5700.


Selby Gallery.
Opening July 6 to run through Aug. 8 is the show John Howey, Architect, featuring models and drawings for his projects, shown in a recent book about his work; also for those dates, an exhibition of designs for the new Sarasota Museum of Art from the ADP Group. Those shows are followed by a retrospective featuring the works of David Byrd and a Social Issues in Graphic Design show, both running Aug. 17 through Sept. 19. The Ringling School faculty exhibition, Part I, opens Sept. 28. 359-7563.


Dabbert Gallery.
The gallery offers a Summer Showcase featuring works by Yuqi Wang, Craig Rubadoux, Barbara Krupp, Robert Baxter, Ben Stahl, Eric Boyer, Daniel Bilodeau and others, through Sept. 30. 955-1315.


Salvador Dali Museum.
In St. Petersburg, this museum presents Dali in Focus, July 13 through January 2008, a collection of the artist’s oils, watercolors and drawings. Also on view, through Aug. 19, Dali’s Biblia Sacra, illustrations related to the Bible; Part II of this exhibit runs Aug. 24 through January 2008. And Traces, displaying works by Catalan videographer Mabel Palacín, opens Sept. 29. (727) 823-3767.

MISCELLANEOUS
South Florida Museum. Pirates! Florida’s East Coast Pirates and Scoundrels, Scalawags and Treasure! continue on view at the Bradenton museum through Aug. 19. Tales of real-life pirates are told, and there will also be Gasparilla Fest memorabilia and pirate paintings by Sarasota artist Don Maitz. 746-4131.


Fourth of July Family Celebration.
The birthday of our country is marked with events downtown courtesy of the Downtown Merchants Association, as well as a planned pops concert at the Van Wezel and, at dusk, fireworks over the bay at Sarasota Bayfront Park. For information call 928-9002.


*UPDATED* Wine Dinner Events at Bijou Cafe.
