Ready to Wear
Need more ready- to-wear art from style editor Marsha Fottler (page 46). Here it is.

Photo No. 1

Jackie Cully creates another beautiful design on silk. Her African-inspired motifs have graced the labels of Liz Claiborne, Bill Blass and Oscar de le Renta. Cully teaches at the Longboat Key Center for the Arts and sells her wearable art at private gatherings. $185 and up. (2737 Horseshoe Court, Sarasota. 379-6681).

The West Indies look is everywhere these days, so why not our handbags? Self-taught artist Dolores Parker has found a way to incorporate the look into her trendy bags that are almost too beautiful to drop your lipstick into. This one bears the signature pineapple design and bamboo handle that distinguishes the hot West Indies craze. You'll find her bags at The Met and Ritz-Carlton for about $180. (7452 Mariana Drive, Sarasota. 929-9304.)

Photo No. 3

Pamela Marwede sits swathed in the colorful fabrics that have become her calling card. Her drapes, table linens, pillows and floor cloths are generally custom designed for individual projects, but you can purchase some of her goods at Garden Argosy on St. Armands Circle and Imagery Fine Crafts Gallery on Fifth Street.

Photo No. 4

Sixty-five-year-old artist Barbara Frey takes her artistic cues from nature, using botanical and natural materials to print on silk and cotton fabrics. Her specialty is silk scarves, and here, you can see how her art imitates the beauty of Florida's natural wonders. You can see her work at 4739 White Tail Lane, Sarasota. (926-4739).

Photo No. 5

Here, a close-up of Jan Driefer's cloths reveals the organic detail that permeates all of her hand-woven fabrics. Cotton and silk clothing are her specialty; each is one-of-a-kind. Find her work at Venice Art Center, Selby Gardens and the Fiber Arts Boutique (Nov. 21 and 22) at St. Armands Lutheran Church. (1280 Tree Bay, Sarasota. 349-1261).
